The Perito Moreno Glacier. with photos

PERITO MORENO GLACIER

Hello,

Sorry for this radio silence for some days but they were my last days in Argentina and then I took the plane to come back to Paris.

Finally I am home, without my suitcase , quite tired but full of energy to finally upload a post about the glacier with some pics and videos.

The Glacier Perito Moreno. Monday March 31st

We had arrived the previous night from a 2 days trekking trip on El Chalten so for monday we decided to do the soft ice trekking on the glacier, just a 1h30 with the crampons walking on the ice.

We woked up at 6h and after a 80 km trip we arrived to the Parque Natural de los Glaciares with the first panoramic view of the glacier.

It is really amazing to one of the 2 glaciers of the world that is still growing. The effect of growing sometimes makes also that huge blocks of ice fall into the lake.

Here you can see some pics from the Glacier taken from the boat that took us to the shelter.

The arm of the glacier seen from the boat

Me at the view point before starting the ice trekking.

This is the ice sea that you see when walking on the glacier

We were really lucky with the weather... It is quite funny to walk on the ice with the crampons.

Here having a whisky at the Glacier... with Francois

A nice video of the lunch we had at the Glacier

The Glacier must wait.... Buenos Aires Party is not that bad!!

I am in the internet place close to my appartment. For those that didn´t know we decided to rent an appartment in center B.Aires, The appartment is amazing but the area is not that good, As many american cities downtown is only for working hours and at night a lot of homeless people try to get themselves a life by searching food on the trash containters and street bins, it is quite disgusting but you realize how different some neighbourhood are in here.Rich people lives some blocks away but there streets are clean and maintained whereas in the microcenter is quite sad to see the every night show. At least is not dangerous at all and as taxis are very cheap we go from door to door without stepping on the street.

I am telling you this because yesterday we (Marcos indeed) decided to throw a party in our appartment, we had brought some french cheeses and all his friends came over, obviously it was a excuse to drink some beers and wine, and the horrible national drink (the Whisky-cola Spanish) what is called Fernet with Cola. Fernet is an italian spirit that reminds me to a mix of differents medicines I had when I was kid, and the taste is really disgusting....

Well, the party went Ok, I left them a bit early as I had another Bday party from a friend that was in Paris with us but we managed to join both groups in a discotheque were we danced till 6am with several drinks above the limit... Today as you could imagine we rested and we did some shopping for those that make comments....

Plan for tonite: Party again and tomorrow we are going to a Boca Juniors match.
I will tell you everything if I survive and I will post some pics from the Glacier (i leave this to the end in order to keep the emotion...)

Questions
Who is in Paris now? How is it? Rainning?
I will be in Madrid on the 18th of april... any plans?
Does somebody wants any special thing from here? Alfajores havana maybe??
Enjoy the Feria de Abril.

Facts.
Tango is a very sexy dance, specially if you dance with a sexy girl, and if you know how to dance.
This country loves being in the international news. After the countryside crisis, is the Malvinas request back, and the fact that adoptive parents of a "stolen" girl during the dictatorship has been sent to prision by their daughter....

Anyway: Besos a todos y Vamos Boca!!!!

A day in the countryside!!! and the crisis is solved

Hello,

Well as you may know the crisis in the countryside is solved, at least for the next 30 days, the farmers have finally unblocked the roads and today the trucks will arrive to the central markets, so do not be worried for me, I will can eat a bit more during the next days!!

Apparently they have unblocked the roads in order not to lose the support of the main cities that will be without goods but also is a mesure to see if the Gov will relax the mesures and lower the taxes on the exportation.

It is quite funny that all of this happens when I am in the countryside, we came to Marcos "Finca" at 200 km away from B.Aires, we were looking for the blocking guys but we didnt see nothing and the ambience was good.

We have enjoyed a nice weather, and amazing Asado, which is an Argentinian BBQ and we have been riding wild horses on his fields, it is nice to get away from the city and to fell the nature.
I can really say I am lucky.

Nice facts,
Yesterday I had my first dinner served by servants.... (the feeling is quite weird if you do not know how to behave)

I still do not know the B.As night, I hope to go out tonight. We might make a pre-drinks party in my appartment and then go dancing-

Girls are amazing, really cute and quite easy to talk to, but I confirm that the spanish accent doesnt work. ( And the fact that I have a girlfriend....obviously!!!!)

Ok for now, I will try to post something during the weekend and the trip to the Glacier and Patagonian mountains....

People are responding to the call, and comments are made, THANKS A LOT for reading, I reply every comment you make and I confirm that gifts will be done to those that add a constructing comment!

besos

Buenos Aires again - Argentina Crisis-

Hello people,

El reportero aventurero strikes back again....

I was supposed to tell you about the amazing hikes and views from the Argentinian Patagonia but what Argentina is living in this moment makes me consider today´s post, so I will tell you some inside news about what is going on here.

I believe you all know the basis of the conflict, that opposes the governement and the agricultural associantions and unions as the Gov is rising a 44% the taxes on the exportation on the agricultural goods. Agricultural unions are blocking the main roads so no goods come to the markets. You will have all information in any international newspaper and I am not going to take any political position as I am just a witness of what is going on.

What I am going to do is to tell you how people live this conflict. It is said that Argentina has a psycologist for every 900 persons and inside every argentinian there is a footbal coach and a politician, so they are more than happy to discuss about politics.

It is amazing that with everyone I have discussed it is against the Gov, I have discussed with some high business guys, some well-off people and some people on the streets, as well as the taxi drivers. They are all againts them and they all say that this crisis might lead to the fall of the Gov.

Maybe this is by the fact that I B.Aires the gov didn´t win the elections (as well as in all main cities of Argentina), but I still haven´t found anyone for the mesures taking by the Gov

In the other hand you might see thousands of people at the plaza the Mayo, supporting the Gov, well, I have been told that this people come from the rural villages and that everything is paid for them if they come to the capital to support and to make noise, Today we saw a really huge demonstration that it very like the times where Evita was alive. I was lucky to feel the Peronismo way of acting. Very popular, populist and always showing off their power and talking about the people and about the argentinian nation. Something historical!!
It is now when you feel how easy is to manipulate the voters.

Well, what is funny is that tomorrow there is another parade but this time is againts the Gov, organized by the countryside people. We will see what happens. Last week some people come to boicot it and there were riots around the obelisc square

The only thing I do not want to happen is that like in the last big strike in 1976 everything will end in a "coup d´etat" (golpe de estado), This country is so rich and the people so nice that it deserves something better.

Sorry for the political posts but its amazing to see how Argentinians are into politics and we will see what happens.

The facts that might interest.
Some markets don´t have meat
prices have increased a lot
they want to start measuring how many milk people buy
It is raining very hard today
We will go to the countryside so I will have a deepper insight.

The Alfajores are amazing
and I don´t go back to work!!!

Besos a todos and have a good day.
